Frequently Asked Questions
What is a utility bill audit?

A utility bill audit is the review of an organization’s utility invoices in order to find billing errors and to evaluate rate plans and make suggestions for further savings. This is separate from an energy audit which seeks to minimize energy spending through increased efficiencies.

How much does an audit cost?

Our audit process is based on a contingency fee basis, meaning there is is no upfront cost or expenses. Util is never compensated before confirmation of your savings and refund. If we do obtain a refund for you, we split the refund with you. All future savings are yours to keep.

How do I get my audit started?

First contact us. Our team will determine as to which audits will make the most sense for you and your business.

To get started, you provide just one recent billing statement for a free initial audit review.  Within 48 hours we will inform you whether or not there are errors present.

What happens if there are errors present?

If there are errors present, we will recommend a detailed 36-month audit and obtain a 1-page authorization allowing us to perform the service directly through your provider. This way, your internal staff is not bogged down collecting paperwork.

Once we obtain authorization, we will correct any billing discrepancies present, which will save you money monthly beginning as soon as your next billing cycle. We will also request a refund from the provider for over-billing.

How long will it take to get a refund?

This can vary depending on what historical data can be obtained, how a utility processes a claim, or whether we need to further research a case. Typically, your audit will take 30 to 60 days from submission of your first billing statement to issuance of your refund.
